I am a writer, creative director, and radio producer based in Jackson, Wyoming.
I live here with my nurse husband and my unemployed five-year-old, who took this photo.
howdy.
A note about my latest Modern Love essay: I wrote that essay in May 2025 and I love how it captures a moment of personal darkness that doesn’t get a fairytale ending. My daughter has been dry through the night for months now (I don’t think any psychological damage was caused, as a dozen or so readers suggested) and I have been sober for 50+ days now and plan to continue working on my recovery. Thank you for all the concerns and kind words! I’ve closed down my submission form, because of the hundreds of unhelpful (if not hurtful) messages sent to me. If my piece helped you or made you feel less alone, I am so grateful. Thank you for reading. Thank you for being here. xxo.

What They’re Saying About Me
“Dad’s friend Rachel that’s on NPR news.”
“Are you gonna wear that?”
“Rare!”
“Rachel’s able to capture a story in a way that’s both nuanced and raw—the kind of clarity that fosters immediate recognition in the heart of a reader.”
